Bassem El Daouk (“Sam”) is an internationally trained lawyer with more than twenty-five years of legal experience across the Middle East and North Africa.

Before relocating to Canada, Sam was in his own private practice in Beirut, Lebanon, where he worked in the fields of real estate, corporate, employment, and intellectual property, advised clients on international arbitration and mergers and acquisitions matters, and guided businesses through cross-border transaction strategy.

He also spent over a decade as Senior Legal Counsel at a leading Lebanese real estate development company responsible for the reconstruction of Beirut's city centre, and its international real estate development arm. In this role, he dealt with projects in the fields of real estate, consultancy, contracting, information technology, hospitality, employment, cross-border transactions, and intellectual property rights across a number of countries, including but not limited to Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.

Sam holds a Lebanese law degree from Université La Sagesse in Beirut, a Master's degree in International Trade Law from the University of Technology Sydney in Australia, and a Post-Bachelor's Certificate for the Foreign-Trained Lawyers Program at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law, where he was recognized with the Outstanding Advocacy Award and served as a Student Ambassador. He is legally qualified to practise in Canada, having become qualified through the Federation of Law Societies of Canada's accreditation process.

Sam gained Canadian legal experience through internship/volunteering at Osuji & Smith Lawyers in Calgary, where he worked closely with lawyers on client files, quickly earning a reputation for his professionalism, organization, and reliability.

Sam was a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Branch, and is a member of the Beirut Bar Association, where he has been a member since 1997.

Outside of his professional life, he believes in staying well-rounded and grounded. He is a passionate swimmer and singer, an avid music lover, and enjoys experimenting in the kitchen through the culinary arts.
