Zulqernain Syed is an internationally trained lawyer with a Bachelor of Commerce, an LL.B., and an LL.M. in Commercial Law. He has more than ten years of experience in Civil, Commercial, Administrative, Regulatory and Employment Litigation in common law jurisdictions.

In his prior practice, Zulqernain represented corporate and commercial clients before superior courts and managed complex litigation across multiple procedural and review stages. His experience also includes negotiating and drafting contractual arrangements for corporate clients and businesses, reviewing legal documentation, and advising on matters involving commercial, regulatory, and litigation-related issues. He previously served as Senior Manager Litigation with the Etisalat Group U.A.E., where he managed a litigation portfolio of more than 400 cases.

Zulqernain is currently completing the University of Calgary’s Foreign-Trained Lawyers Program as part of his professional pathway toward legal licensing and accreditation in Canada.

At Osuji and Smith, Zulqernain works closely with counsel and assists with court and administrative proceedings across Employment & Labour Law, Corporate & Commercial, Immigration & Refugee Law, Regulatory & Compliance, and Civil Litigation matters. He contributes to the advancement of files through substantive legal research, legal analysis, document review, and drafting. Drawing on his background in complex litigation and regulatory matters, he brings a structured, analytical, and litigation-focused perspective to files involving both individuals and organizations.
