Professional Biography

Samantha Martey-Carboo is a highly qualified legal professional with over 7 years of comprehensive experience supporting legal operations across diverse practice areas including corporate law, family law, insurance law, wills and estate, and nuclear law. Currently based in Calgary, Alberta, Samantha brings a unique combination of international legal expertise and Canadian legal training to her role as a legal assistant.
Samantha holds an LLM in Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law from the University of Calgary, and was a scholarship recipient of the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law. She has successfully obtained her NCA Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Her academic foundation includes a degree in Psychology and Linguistics, an LLB from the University of Ghana, and Professional Legal Training from the Ghana School of Law.
Her professional experience spans multiple jurisdictions and practice areas. As a Legal Officer with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Samantha provided expert legal advice on international nuclear law and represented Ghana at International Atomic Energy Agency conferences. Prior to this, she worked as an associate for a private law firm in Ghana with particular focus on analyzing and prosecuting insurance claims, wills and estate matters, debt recovery, and commercial agreements.
Presently as a Legal Assistant at Osuji & Smith, Samantha demonstrates her commitment to the Canadian legal system by conducting client interviews, attending court sessions, drafting legal documents, and providing comprehensive legal research and administrative support. Her experience includes preparing legal briefs, opinions, correspondence, retainer agreements, and participating in professional development initiatives.
Samantha’s core competencies include legal research and analysis, document drafting and review, contract negotiation, client relationship management, and cross-cultural communication.
