Professional Biography

Janet Momoh is an associate lawyer at Osuji & Smith, admitted to the bars of Alberta (Canada), Sierra Leone, and England & Wales. She leverages her global perspective and a proven track record to deliver results-driven legal solutions across litigation, corporate commercial, employment, and criminal matters. Known for her strategic insight, strong advocacy, and analytical rigour, Janet provides practical legal guidance that effectively protects and advances the interests of her clients.
Prior to joining Osuji & Smith, Janet completed her articles in Edmonton, gaining hands-on Canadian experience in litigation, criminal, family, immigration, real estate, and wills and estates matters.
Her extensive international experience includes serving as a State Counsel in Sierra Leone, where she provided high-level advice to the government on criminal, civil, commercial, and international law. In this capacity, she represented the government in complex constitutional and public law cases and negotiated high-stakes agreements with international organizations, including the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and European Union. She guided government institutions on regulatory compliance and international obligations. She also worked as a legal consultant to a leading media group in Sierra Leone, advising on employment law, board governance, and disciplinary committee matters.
In the UK, Janet practised corporate and commercial law, commercial property transactions, and employment law, providing advisory and litigation support to both businesses and individuals.
Janet is a committed community leader. She serves as pro bono legal counsel at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and founded two non-profit organizations: Echoes of Hope, which supports newcomers to Canada, and INEDEM, which has provided education, mentorship, and health support to over 2,000 children in Sierra Leone.
In her personal time, she enjoys jogging, reading, and volunteering, reflecting her dedication to discipline, intellectual growth, creativity, and service.
