Professional Biography

Chukwuemeka Ibezim Dimiri (“Chuk”) is a Senior Litigator and Mediator at Osuji & Smith Lawyers, whose legal career spans more than three decades across both Nigeria and Canada. Recognized for his courtroom depth, strategic advocacy, and measured approach to dispute resolution, Chuk advises individuals, professionals, and businesses navigating complex legal challenges where clarity, experience, and strong representation matter.

Before immigrating to Canada in 2013, Chuk practiced law in Nigeria for nearly 20 years after earning his LL.B. (Hons) from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in 1991. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and appeared before the Court of Appeal, Federal and State High Courts, and various lower courts throughout his career.

Following his relocation to Canada, Chuk successfully completed the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s NCA accreditation process in 2015 before continuing his legal career in Alberta. He completed his articles with Stringam LLP in 2016 before being called to the Alberta Bar on July 7, 2017. In 2022, he joined Osuji & Smith Lawyers in Calgary, where he continues to build a practice grounded in strategic problem-solving, strong advocacy, and trusted client relationships.

Chuk’s practice focuses on Civil Litigation, Employment & Labour Law, Family & Divorce Law, Real Estate, Wills & Estate Planning, and Mediation. His ability to balance assertive representation with practical, solutions-oriented guidance has earned him the trust of both individual and business clients facing high-stakes disputes, operational challenges, and sensitive legal matters. With extensive cross-jurisdictional experience, he brings a thoughtful and composed perspective to negotiations, litigation strategy, and conflict resolution.

Beyond his practice, Chuk has remained deeply committed to leadership, mentorship, and community service throughout Alberta. Over the years, he has contributed to organizations including Rotary International, United Way Alberta Northwest, Legal Aid Alberta, and Centre for Newcomers, along with several community and faith-based initiatives. His involvement in mediation, accessible legal support, and community advocacy reflects a people-first philosophy that continues to shape both his practice and professional relationships.

Fluent in English and Ibo, Chuk values meaningful connection, mentorship, and giving back to the communities he serves. Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys spending time with his family and has been married to his spouse for over 20 years. Together, they share a deep commitment to family, community, and service.
