Adela Teoteoi-Pîrlică is a legal professional with over a decade of international experience as in-house counsel and in managerial positions, alongside Canadian experience assisting lawyers in a broad range of practice areas, including Employment Law, Business & Corporate Law, Immigration & Refugee Law, Civil Litigation, Administrative Law, and Debt Recovery. As in-house legal counsel, she focused on legal risk management, corporate compliance, and acquisition support, with experience leading farmland due diligence and recovering over 90% of unpaid debts through negotiation. Her experience also included legal research, litigation support, client advocacy, and complex case management, as well as managing small-to-mid-sized teams and overseeing property title and transaction processes.

She is currently completing the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) Certificate of Qualification through the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.

With an academic and professional journey that sets her apart, she holds two bachelor’s degrees in Law and Public Administration, both earned with top academic distinction, along with a high‑achieving Master’s degree in Public Institutions Management completed across two countries. As an Erasmus alumna, she pursued academic exchange studies at the University of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, where her dissertation research focused on the protection of cultural heritage during armed conflict. She expanded her professional expertise through a Continuing Education Program in Construction Contract Law and Documents at the University of Calgary, strengthening her applied knowledge in contract structures, risk allocation, and industry‑specific legal frameworks. Building on this foundation, she further advanced her legal education by completing the Foreign‑Trained Lawyers Program at the University of Calgary, earning a Post‑Bachelor’s Certificate that reflects her commitment to academic excellence and professional growth.

Outside of Canada, Adela contributed to published legal research at the Romanian Academy’s Andrei Rădulescu Legal Research Institute, focusing on property and civil legal issues and potential solutions. This experience strengthened her perspective on legal research methodologies and later enhanced her understanding of comparisons between civil and common legal systems, as well as international legal and public institutions.

Adela began at Osuji & Smith Lawyers as an immigration legal assistant and now supports lawyers across multiple practice areas. She trains new legal assistants, supervises practicum students, and mentors interns at the firm’s second location, contributing to complex legal matters with strong adaptability and teamwork.

She is recognized for her analytical skills, attention to detail, and efficiency in managing high-volume files, along with a client-centered and empathetic approach. Adela can assist clients in English, French, and Romanian, helping foster meaningful connections and ensuring clients feel informed, supported, and understood throughout their legal journey.

She actively volunteers her time to support community initiatives and has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Immigrant Association Portal (PIA) for her contributions to the Francophone community, as well as recognition from the Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council (CRIEC) for excellence in mentoring.
