Professional Biography

Samantha Martey-Carboo is a highly qualified legal professional with over seven years of diverse experience supporting legal operations across multiple practice areas, including Corporate Law, Family Law, Insurance Law, Wills and Estates, and Nuclear Law. Based in Calgary, Alberta, she brings a unique blend of international legal expertise and Canadian legal training to her role as a Legal Strategist & Support.

Samantha holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law from the University of Calgary, where she was awarded a scholarship from the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law. She has also obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada (NCA). Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Linguistics, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Ghana, and professional legal training from the Ghana School of Law.

Her professional experience spans multiple jurisdictions and legal disciplines. As a Legal Officer with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Samantha provided specialized legal advice on international nuclear law and represented Ghana at conferences at the International Atomic Energy Agency. Prior to this role, she practiced as an Associate at a private law firm in Ghana, where she focused on insurance litigation, wills and estate matters, debt recovery, and commercial transactions.

Currently, Samantha serves as a Legal Strategist at Osuji & Smith, where she demonstrates a strong commitment to the Canadian legal system. In this role, she conducts client interviews, drafts legal documents, and provides in-depth legal research and administrative support. Her work includes preparing legal briefs, opinions, correspondence, and retainer agreements, as well as contributing to ongoing professional development initiatives.

Samantha’s core competencies include legal research and analysis, document drafting and review, contract negotiation, client relationship management, and cross-cultural communication. She is recognized for her results-oriented approach, strong organizational abilities, and capacity to thrive in multicultural environments while maintaining the highest standards of professional ethics.

She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Ghana Bar Association, the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law, the Institute for African Women in Law, Women in Nuclear Ghana, and Pro Bono Students Canada, reflecting her dedication to professional excellence and community engagement.
